The popular television competition returns for a ninth season, with auditions for dancers in five major US cities. Auditions run January through March.

"So You Think You Can Dance" will once again be travelling across the country to find amazing dance talent on the way to crowning one person "America's Favorite Dancer" for the ninth time.

Dancers who excel in the first round of auditions will be given a ticket to Las Vegas for the intense week of callbacks and specialty choreography. If the judges are on the fence about a dancer, or not sure of how he or she will adapt to the competition, they can ask the dancer to stay for choreography. In this intermediate round, the dancers learn choreography with a partner and the judges will determine from there who goes on to Las Vegas and who goes home.

The Top 20 dancers are chosen from the remaining competitors in Las Vegas, and those dancers will compete on the television show for the title of America's Favorite Dancer.
